Nobell Community Guidelines

Status: Working draft — will be refined as the platform develops and published when the project is complete.

Families must accept these guidelines when creating an account. The full text will be shown at registration.

Welcome to Nobell

Nobell is a local Okotoks homeschool community where families share curriculum materials, coordinate activities, and support one another. We are building a fair and equitable community — one where everyone gives and takes in balance, and where transparency helps us all participate responsibly.

These guidelines describe what we expect of every family on the platform.

1. Fair and Equitable Participation

Nobell works best when families contribute as well as benefit. We ask that you:

Share resources you are able to — worksheets, guides, videos, activity ideas, and materials you have created or legally obtained
Respond to Resource Plans when you can help — if another family is looking for something you have or plan to buy, consider sharing or coordinating
Participate honestly in activities, pooled purchases, and wallet transactions
Be mindful of your give-and-take — the platform tracks community activity to help families stay balanced; this is meant to encourage contribution, not to shame anyone

We do not publish leaderboards or call out families publicly. Equity is about community health, not competition.

2. Who Can Join

Nobell is for homeschool families in the Okotoks area and nearby communities
Registration is open, but all accounts require admin approval before full access
Parents manage family accounts in the initial release; child logins may be added later
One account per family — use your family name as displayed to the community

3. Sharing Resources

What you may share

Materials you created yourself (lesson plans, worksheets, recordings)
Materials you have legal right to share (open-licence content, publisher-permitted sharing, public-domain works)
Links to external resources (curriculum websites, videos, articles)

What requires care

Purchased curriculum (workbooks, textbooks, paid PDFs) may be subject to copyright. Upload freely, but admins may flag resources as copyright restricted — meaning the listing remains visible but downloads are disabled until an admin validates access
Do not upload content you know to be pirated or unlawfully copied
When in doubt, share a link to the publisher instead of the file, or ask an admin

Attribution and quality

Resources are tagged with your family name so others know who contributed — this is credit, not a score
Provide accurate titles, subjects, grade levels, and descriptions
Include helpful context: price paid, parent feedback, considerations (e.g., "consumable", "needs supplement")

Deleting resources

Your family may remove a resource you uploaded — it will disappear from the site for all members
Admins retain visibility of family-deleted resources for moderation purposes
Admins may permanently delete resources that violate these guidelines
Removing a resource after receiving tips or downloads, with intent to mislead the community, is a serious violation and may result in suspension

4. Respectful Conduct

Treat other families with kindness and respect in comments, forum posts, and activity discussions
Disagreements happen — address ideas, not people
Do not harass, bully, or discriminate against any family
Keep discussions relevant and constructive
Respect privacy — do not share other families' personal information outside the platform

5. Forum and Activities

Use appropriate tags and categories so others can find your posts
Activity hosts may set optional costs (per family or per individual) — be honest about what fees cover
Honour your RSVPs — if you mark "Going", show up or update your status
Post honest reviews and ratings after activities — help other families make good decisions
Do not use the forum for commercial solicitation unrelated to homeschooling

6. Resource Plans

Post genuine intentions — what you are looking for, planning to buy, or interested in pooling
Do not use Resource Plans as a way to obtain copyrighted materials from others while avoiding contribution yourself
Pooled purchases are coordinated in good faith — if you commit interest or funds, follow through
Mark plans as filled or cancelled when the situation changes

7. Wallet and Money

Each family has a wallet for tips, activity payments, and pooled purchases
Funds are loaded via e-transfer and confirmed by an admin
Payouts are processed manually by admins via e-transfer — provide accurate payment details
Do not attempt to manipulate wallet balances or dispute legitimate transactions in bad faith
Tips are voluntary — they recognise contribution, not purchase copyrighted content
Nobell is not a bank; wallet balances are community accounting, not insured deposits

8. Privacy

Your family profile is visible to other members and shows resources you have uploaded
Download activity is recorded for community transparency — members can see who downloaded what on the Community Activity page
Education planner entries have visibility settings you control (private, summary, or full)
Contact an admin if you need account data corrected or removed

9. Reporting and Moderation

If you see content that violates these guidelines, report it to the admins
Admins may edit resource details, flag copyright restrictions, remove content, or suspend accounts
Admin decisions are made to uphold community safety and fairness
Repeated or serious violations may result in permanent removal from Nobell

10. Content Ownership

You retain ownership of content you upload
By uploading, you grant Nobell a licence to host and distribute that content to approved community members via the platform
If you family-delete a resource, it is hidden from members but admins may retain a copy for moderation and audit purposes until an admin permanently deletes it

Acceptance

By registering on Nobell, you confirm that:

You have read and agree to these Community Guidelines
Your family will participate fairly and equitably in the community
You will only share materials you have the right to share
You understand that admins moderate content and may restrict or remove resources that violate these guidelines
